Test whether a note is "marked"

Hi, I'm new to musescore (installed it yesterday - and am absolutely fascinated by its capabilities) so please apologize if I missed something obvious.

I'd like to write a plugin to mark (rather than select) notes within chords by ctrl-clicking them and then have the marked notes moved to a new voice in the same staff (I read about the procedures to copy notes to a new staff, change their voice and copy them back, but this seems a little awkward if you do this more often). However, I did not find a way to detect for a note whether it is marked. Is there or will there be an API for this?
