Tuplet questions

Hi all,

i need some help with tuplets. I'm writing a piece which is heavily based on polyrhythms and need to know:

1. how do i create ratio tuplets (for example 4:3 or 5:2 instead of a standard single number between the brackets)

2. how can i make the tuplets cross barlines? there is a long section in 4/4 time with tuplets of 4:3 and it's very difficult to read using standard dotted eigth notation. it would be much simpler if i could bridge barlines and use ratio tuplets...

thanks

dan

See Tuplet in the Handbook for general info on creating and customizing the appearance of tuplets. Also note you can use Notes / Tuplets / Other to get to a dialog directly, as opposed to entering the tuplet then changing properties.

For over-the-bar tuplets, no way to do that directly, but see other threads such as http://musescore.org/en/node/12284 for usable workarounds.

I'm not sure this solves your problem but my solution for doing doublets in 9/8 time was to do a dotted quarter then apply tuplet to that.

Keyboard command: 5. ⌘-2

It leaves the mode as soon as I've entered my two notes and sets my note to 1/8th so it's not exactly convenient but it basically works.

Not sure that helps any but good luck!
