Change duration of notes in vertical selections

• Oct 15, 2017 - 23:17

When I make a vertical selection of notes, I can change their durations to triplet (by keyboard: ctrl+3), and vice versa, but I can't change theirs to other durations, like from 8th to 16th notes. Though I can do it part by part, but I think it would be helpful to do them together, since sometimes when people composes a multi-part piece, like choir or quartet, they may want to modify the durations of some notes in all parts, like adding a syncopation. Being able to change the duration of notes in a vertical selection would be more intuitive and less time-consuming.

And, technically, since it already works for changing to triplet, it might also be possible for changing to other durations.

I've often wishec I had this feature so I don't argue about its usefulness at all but you have made an error in your statement about triplets. Changing a note to a triplet does not change its duration. A 1/4 note changed to a triplet still takes as much time as a 1/4, but now has 3 1/8 notes to fill that time. Because of this you can also change notes to tuplets horizontally since there is no true duration change. The problem with allowing durations to change on more than one chord/note is what happens if they end up overlapping horizontally? It probably is not as easy as we might expect to assure that the vertical notes are starting on the same beat. What happens if the vertical notes do not start with the same duration? There are many questions that make this idea complex to implement.
