MIDI won't work?

I am having difficulty with the MIDI on my piano/computer. I have a Yamaha PSR-220 keyboard, and it used to work perfectly with my old laptop. Now I have a newer laptop, but it won't do any MIDI input. I don't know what to do, so some help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
