Backward compatibility plans for V 2.0

What are the intentions for this? I looked but did not see a discussion other than a remark or two that you will be able to load a .mscz file built in 1.3, into 2.0. Presumably you will save it in 2.0 form and continue merrily hacking your piece. That would be nice.

One suspects that the updated file, if it's a complicated one, will have a few funny things happen, which will need to be tweaked by hand. I understand that it's difficult, and that at some point with major new releases the developers have to say, Sorry dude, that stuff is not carried forward, you'd better use the old version of the app on that file. Just wondering.

Yes, you can load a 1.3 score into 2.0, and saving will result in the file saved into 2.0 format so the new file cannot be loaded into 1.3.

Most element placement from 1.3 looks good now. Many good improvements have happened recently, esp dealing with default placement of notes in multi-voice. Manually dragged elements still tend to be placed too far away (i.e. appears to dragged further). There's still more work to do but things are quite good.

Try a nightly download and see for yourself.
