Installation in english
Is it possible to decide during the installation procedure that an english version instead of e.g. a german one is being installed?

During the installation procedure, I don't believe while it's selected in your desktop environment German. But after installation it's always possible to change the language in preferences, see: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/preferences#general
The installer is not translated unfortunately. The next major version of MuseScore will come with a setup wizard though that asks for language setup and more.

I was just asking bceause I am working through out the excellent youtube tutorial series by George Hess. But they rely on the english version, so it is easier to follow his tutorial in this version.

And the next major version of MuseScore will even allow to switch language without needed to restart it ;-)
