MacBook pro touch with touchbar icons for MuseScore!
With Better Touch Tool you can add your own touch bar icons! Really cool for a notation program like MuseScore! Nest step will be to make icons of the note values. This is what I hoped to use the touch bar for. See picture.

Icon is maybe not working very well unless someone creates very nice compact icons (white on black). But giving the shortcuts colors seems very nice to me.

Doesn't that take away the function keys, which are also needed?

If you need the function keys you push the Fn key on the keyboard and you have F1 etc.

Doesn't this mostly just duplicate the function of the… you know, number keys, which are right below them?
I have a MacBook with a touch bar and would potentially be interested in tools that utilize it, but not for functions that already have shortcuts. In fact I'm hesitant to name an alternative because any given thing probably has a shortcut I may or may not be aware of.
