Drum Music That Doesn't Fit With 3/4?

• Jan 5, 2018 - 19:44

I ran into a problem. I have a piece of music that I'm trying to put into MuseScore, but the snare/tenor/bass drum parts are written with sets of 3 eighth-note triplets per bar.
To simplify, the drums have this part:

While the winds have this part:

Which isn't possible. However, I don't know a lot about drums and that kind of stuff so if anyone has some solutions, please respond. Thanks!

You have shown only one measure for the percussion and 2 measures for the winds. The drum measure will line up perfectly with one wind measure.

You are not doing it correctly. In the instructions it says to select a note or rest of the full duration of the triplet. The duration of triplet 1/8th notes is a 1/4 note/rest, so you need to make a 1/4 rest and press ctrl+3. You will end up with 3 1/8th rests under the triplet bracket. You can then replace these with notes.

To make this a little easier for several triplets in a row, you can make 3 1/4 rests in the measure, select the measure and press ctrl+3 and all 3 rests will be turned into triplets. You can even select the measure and press R to make the measure be automatically copied to the next measure. You can then continue to press R until you have as many measures as you want. R works the same if you have rests or notes. Whatever is in the measure will be copied.
