Midi export incomplete with DS al Fine
I have just completed the score of a Wind Quintet, length 580 bars. This is divided into 4 movements, and at the end of each movement (except the last) there is a line break in the score so the movements are separate. No problems with any of this.
The score includes several repeats and a DS al Fine at the end of the second movement. Actually, it should be a da capo, but if I put that it goes back to the beginning of the whole piece, not the beginning of the 2nd movement as it should.
In addition to the DS al Fine, there is a Segno at the start of the 2nd movement, and a Fine at the point where the movement ends.
I have exported the complete piece as MIDI, so I can load it in Garageband, and tweak dynamics etc to balance the instruments correctly. I have done this several times before with other scores, but this time only the first 2 movements were exported. In other words, the export finished at the Fine, after the DS al segno had been done.
When playing the score in MS, everything works as it should, the 3rd movement following the Fine in the 2nd movement.
Is there any way (other than by creating separate scores & merging the midi files) that I can make the export continue to the 3rd movement after reaching the Fine in the 2nd movement for the last time?
If I remove the DS al Fine, the sign at the beginning of the 2nd movement to which it goes back, and the Fine the whole of the score is exported, but I have to manually edit the midi file to add back the section that should have been repeated by the DS al Fine and sign.
I hope all that is clear, and look forward to comments on this
Thanks

Have you used section breaks to separate the movements?
In reply to Have you used section breaks… by Jojo-Schmitz
Thanks so much - that's it! I had used a line break to separate the movements & I now know that's not the same a Section Break.
The internal repeats now work correctly, and the whole file has exported to Midi correctly.
Once again, thanks for the help & prompt reply
