Wrong Articulation Symbol

• Feb 1, 2018 - 23:19

After selecting the note, I double click on the "^" symbol on the Articulation & Ornaments Menu. The result gives me an "V" Symbol instead of an "^" Symbol above the note. How can I get an "^" Symbol.

Thanks for your help. I love your program!

Note these are the same symbol, it's just displayed differently depending on whether it is displayed above or below the note. Same with fermatas and a few others. You shouldn't normally need to mess with the defaults as they are correct according to standard rules of engraving (on the notehead side, not the stem side - so above the note for notes on lower half of staff, above for notes on upper half of staff). You can however use the "Anchor" setting in the Inspector to force an articulation that should normally be below a note to be above instead, and if you do that, it flips upside down as necessary automatically.

Looks like you've tried manually moving the accents in your score above the note. If you really want them there rather than on the notehead side, you can achieve that effect more easily using the aforementioned Anchor control, or set the default in Style / General / Articulations.
