Inside a chord symbol Ctrl+Space (for space) works only once

See attached. If you click inside the chord symbol you see that the second space (after or) is there, but when you click outside the chord symbol it disappears.

This is true, and definitely qualifies as a bug, so feel free to report it formally via the issue tracker. BTW, it seems the issue isn't the number of times the space appears, but where it appears - it is only recognized between recognized chord symbol tokens, not within them. So, you also can't have an embedded space between the "b" and "5" of "b5".

Still, I would recommend against doing what you are doing here. Several things actually are going wrong here. For one, note the "Bb" in the second chord does not have an actual flat sign. Also it won't transpose or export correctly. Much better to use two separate chord symbols here, then each can be parsed, understood, and handled correctly. You can add the "or" as plain text. Although the standard ways of indicating alternate chords would be to use parentheses (which MuseScore supports directly) and/or placing the alternate chord above the primary one (possibly also assigning it another text style to make it smaller and/or italic).
