Import from midi into a template

• Mar 12, 2018 - 22:46

First of all, I must say that I am stunned by how complete and easy to use this program is.

20 + years ago or so I was working as an in house arranger for a couple of studios and was using Finale and Cubase Score depending on what was best for the job.

20 years later, I find MuseScore and I am amazed. So I must first say THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS on a singular achievement!

Onto my question if I may;

Today I was able to export a midi file from Cubase and open it in MuseScore. No problem.

However, what if I wish to first select a template before importing?
Or can I change this setting after I have imported?

At the moment, importing the midi file only flows into the default MuseScore editor/default.

Thank you kindly and thank you thank you again!

You can't import to a template, but you can change all the styles you need. You can also change instruments.

Finally if you wanted to use an existing template to not need to change a bunch of settings, you could always create a score based upon the template, open the midi then copy and paste. Standard editing keystrokes are used like ctrl+shift+end will select everything to the end of the score on a staff. There are 2 things you might run into problems with. Key and Time Signatures cannot be pasted, so you may need to fix those either before or after you paste.
