Unknown ornamentation on an old edition

Can anyone tell me how to notate the attached symbols in MuseScore, and what they mean?

The image is from Louise Reichardt's song "Poesie von Tieck", published around 1800-1820. The original edition is IMSLP #511856:

Could this be a bad print of a tremolo or mordent or some such?

When I read these old style "s", looking almost like an "f" but without the "-", I automatically start to lisp ;-)

Not sure: there are plenty of examples in this score, and they all look like two adjacent diamonds.
