D.C. al Coda is not working with a repeat

• Apr 3, 2018 - 22:04

So I was using a D.C. al Coda and it is working fine until I get to the spot where I should have to "to coda". Where the "to coda" is was a first repeat earlier in the song. And once it gets to that measure after taking the D.C. al Coda the piece stops playback. It's almost like it's getting confused on what it should be doing or something. Any ideas of what is wrong?

Thanks

You must put in the Coda symbol or it won't know what to do. The "to Coda will be problematic also since it is under a volta. You should never do this because it's not standard notation (and MuseScore won't play the volta). You should start the coda with a copy of what is under the volta.

The main issue here is indeed the missing coda.

Actually having the "To Coda" in a Volta is perfectly valid as long as the DC al Coda has "playRepeats" enabled (since 2.2) and MuseScore plays that back just fine.

If you have playRepeats disabled (as you have now), adding the coda still makes MuseScore ignore the jump as it indeed can't "see/find" the ToCoda instruction within the final playthrough; it is hidden under the first volta. It then concludes that the jump is not configured correctly and ignores it.

See attached file in which the coda has been added and playRepeats enabled; will work in MuseScore 2.2 and up.
