No sound
Musescore is not playing any music, no sound. There is no sound during editing or entering or on playback, complete silence. In mixer, the dropdown box to select instrument sound is blank and will not drop down.
Ubuntu 16.04 Musescore 2.2

Sounds like you must have customized your syntheszier settings in a past release in a way not compatible with the current one. Do Help / Revert to Factory Settings. Or, less thorough but possibly as effective, View / Synthesizer and then Add the correct default soundfont, "MuseScore_General.sf3" then hit Set as Default.

Marc Sabatella <3 Thank you so much! The add in synthesiser did the trick! How did that become unset? (so I can avoid doing that again). I haven't messed with the synthesiser and not changed the default settings. Just glad it is working now. Spent a very frustrating afternoon on a job that should have only taken 5 mins.

If you had literally never messed with the synthesizer in any way, then it shouldn't have become unset - it is only known to happen if people had messed with those settings in particular ways. You don't think there is any chance you may have messed with those settings, perhaps in the distant past?
I've also no sound even though it was working this afternoon. I removed 2.2 and went back to 2.1 but it made no difference. Tried resetting to factory conditions but Musescore hasn't done an auto re-start. Have logged out and in a few times but still no difference. Looked at mixer and drop down selection but like yours it's blank.

If you go to view/synthesizer, what soundfont do you see loaded? If none, hit Add, select one, and then Set as Default.

Thanks for the advice it worked. Strange the sound was working then a few hours later it didn't. I never touch the synth side of things as only use MS to notate and print. Very grateful for your help.
Hello.
I din't have this problem on Debian 9.4 while upgrading MS-2.1 > MS-2.2 (from backports).
Did you recently update/dist-upgrade your *.buntu ? It could help, I think. Then reboot...
Regards.
