switch instruments
I have a piece that I found on musescore that I'd like to switch from winds to strings but i cannot find the place to add, delete or switch instruments. I thought I was able to do this in the past and it is not happening. Help appreciated.

Use the Mixer (for playback) or add an Instrument and use copy&paste or see: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/mid-staff-instrument-changes

You either want to
use Staff properties (right click a staff and select Staff properties) and click the change instruments button near the middle of the window. If you are not in concert pitch mode you will see all of the transpositions automatically. It may of course be necessary to adjust some notes that are out of the range or capabilities of the new instrument.
or
you could also press i to open the Instruments dialog and add instruments then copy and paste parts as necessary.
