Making score take up less pages (urgent)

• May 15, 2018 - 21:45

Hi,

I've imported a score from Logic into Musescore and it currently takes up 93 pages because the bars are all massive, can somebody please help me get it down from 93 pages to something like 3 or 4?

Its for an assignment due in on thursday, so its very urgent I get this sorted.

If someone could give me a hand with this as I don't know what I'm doing that would be much appreciated

Thanks!

Oliver.

You have not 93 pages, only 29, and if you delete all the breaks (on top and right of each page) you get 19 pages for a score and for a hundred of measures, so 5 measures on one page

I think you got fooled into thinking there were 93 pages because you saw the measure number 93 on the last page, but indeed, it's "only" 29 pages. Simply removing the line & page breaks does indeed help a lot - looks like Logic inserted these based on its own layout, which apparently was not as efficient

FWIW, the size of the music here is only slightly more than standard, as you'll see if you print it. Not sure if that's because Logic set the staff size a little big or because you messed with it afterwards, but anyhow, go to Layout / Page Settings and set "Staff space" a little smaller (default is 1.764mm). Another problem is that you created totally separate tracks for each of the drums, and these translated into separate staves. You really should have combined them all into one track in Logic prior to exporting it, and then you'd have fewer staves. Making these changes would allow you to get two systems per page instead of only one, which would cut the number of pages in half. That plus removing the line and page breaks gets you down to 6 pages, which is pretty good for almost 100 measures and still half a dozen staves per system. Getting it down to only 3 pages would require making it unreadably small or other compromises that would probably not be worth it.
