One-Staff Repeat Signs

• Jul 3, 2018 - 21:20

Hello!

I've noticed that there are a few features that aren't in Musescore that would be very beneficial to writers of more experimental music. One that I stumbled upon while writing today was the absence of a one-staff repeat.

I noticed on previous posts requesting this feature, Marc Sabatella had mentioned it didn't make musical sense, but I have a scenario where I believe it's the easiest way to represent the music for both the composer and performer. I've attached a picture:

Sorry for the poor notation.

Anyways, the important difference is that the violin and piano parts are not supposed to be in time with each other at all -- the pianist is playing at a fixed speed while the violinist is playing freely. Obviously, I understand that this will not be your top priority, but it would add more flexibility to an already excellent program, so whenever it is possible to add this as a feature, I would appreciate it.

In such cases, you can set barline of the non-repeating staff to be invisible. If you need a regular barline there, you can add it as a symbol.
