Shortcut for cautionary accidentals

• Jul 25, 2018 - 21:34

Hi, i have been transcribing some atonal music recently on musescore and noticed due to the huge amount of cautionary accidentals atonal music needs that there is no shorcut to them! Is there chance this will be implemented? I think this may be a very useful shortcut!

PD: I meant something like the J shortcut to change enarmonic spellings but that toggles the cautionary accidental on/off, i dont know if it was clear.

There is a plugin that turns on/off courtesy accidentals according to the rules you set. This probably won't be in agreement with any score you are transcribing. There is also the option to have shortcuts assigned to accidentals in preferences but they are not toggles. There is no shortcut for no accidental. If I want to get rid of one I either press j three times or the up then down arrows.

The last way I do this if I see too many unneeded accidentals is to get rid of several at once by selecting sections of music, right clicking the accidental then selecting select>more... and use those options to select only the accidentals I want to get rid of. I usually use this vertically when several instruments are in unison and I copy unneeded accidentals from the piccolo or flute to lower instruments. In a similar manner I select all of the notes on a certain beat then, for example, I add a flat to all of them at once. These of course are all after I finish entering the current page/phrase of music.
