Interlude

• Aug 10, 2018 - 23:37

How do I create a jump of the form "to interlude" and create a marker of type "interlude"?

In my example I want Muse Score to recognize the 'to interlude' and 'interlude' that I have entered in stave text

In general, voltas are for repeat endings, not arbitrary sections. Current versions of MuseScore can sometimes guess your intent when doing that, but no guarantees with real musicians - or future versions of MsueScore.

To convert your score into something that makes more sense according to standard conventions, remove the volta markings (since they aren't associated with repeats), take the measures corresponding to the second volta out and move them to the end, call that a coda instead, change the DS al Fine to DS al Coda, and add a "To Coda" where you have the To interlude.

Or, if you prefer, move the measures corresponding to the second volta to the end as per the above but make the first vola go all the way to the end of the interlude and replace the DS with a normal repeat barline (and the segno with a start repeat). Then the last couple of measures can be the second volta. This to me is technically correct but somewhat less desirable; the first volta is too long for comfort.

There might be other things you could do that would happen to result in the correct playback in some particualr version of MuseScore, but best to stick with what will always work.
