Create a new accidental

• Aug 15, 2018 - 10:22

Hi! I am trying to find a way to create new accidentals with MuseScore. Could not find that in the tutorials.
Any hint someone?
Thanks in advance

Simple: you can't.
You can however use any of the ones in the Advanced Workspace's Accidentals palette (not all with playback), and also, with some more restrictions, all the ones from the Master Palette's Symbols palette, i.e. everything defined in SMuFL

I would like to add a (few) new symbol(s) which alter(s) the note with a given number of cents (or whatever measurement unit in acoustical pitch). Different images will be used for a complete set of independent accidentals. Additionally, I wish to be able to use these in key signatures once they are created. (The latter I know is possible and how to do.)
I can do it elsewhere (with a paid program such as MUS2), but I am seeking to propose a free alternative for students and musicologists.
By the way, I went to https://musescore.org/en/handbook/palettes-and-workspaces#custom-palett… but did'nt find an answer for this specific addition.
Thank you for your care,
AB

You can add a symbol to a custom workspace. As Jojo said you can take a symbol from the Master Palette's Symbols palette. But if the symbols you're referring to are not present, you'll need to do some tricks. For example, an image (to be added to a custom palette) that will not affect playback.
So check the handbook on the custom palette topic to learn how to add a custom symbol.
