Multiple non-existent slurs in MSCX

• Aug 22, 2018 - 11:02

I have come across a situation that I discovered accidentally when a tempo mark didn't work for next bar. I saved the file as MSCX to see if I could find why an invisible different tempo took control.
I could not solve the original problem yet (I don't need a solution for this because it is quite simple, to write down the bar again) but I've found that in that bar the MSCX declared multiple slurs (hundreds) that didn't show in the score. I include an excerpt illustrating the situation.
My first question is if there are other cases that have been reported. I have the idea that it is not the first time I find somthing like this, but I don't remember when and where. As a comment, the original file was an old Sibelius file converted using Dolet to XML to be able to go on editing in MuseScore.
Deleting the bar content in the original file removes the slurs, but if I copy and paste the isolated bar back, the slurs appear again.

Yes, the issue with lots of slurs in one spot has come up before, someone here in the forum even wrote a (Python? AWK?) script to fix this, but no clue as to how that happened.

I do have a little clue.
* Create a measure with 4 quarter notes C
* Add a slur between the first two
* Copy the measure and paste on top of the existing one
* You have now two slurs one on top of each other
* Copy the measure again and paste
* repeat 7 more times
* now you have 2^8 slurs.
