Can't get rid of a rest
I tried to insert a couple of measures and they come up with a long dash rest with a number, 2 or 3, above it. I can't cut or delete the rest, nor can I replace it with notes.....all I can do is delete the measures to get rid of them., and then I am back to where I started. Don't know if this is a bug or maybe some setting that I am not aware of.
I have never encountered this problem previously. However, Windows 10 recently did an update. How can I just insert a measure or two and have it open to inserting notes? Thanks.

If you are in a part created from a larger score, this is the default display for multiple measure rests. If you are in the score, you accidentally pressed M which toggles multiple measure rests in both parts and scores. It happens a lot since M is beside N.

Thanks much. I toggled M back, and now I can continue the score and not go through that frustration again.
