Trill won't stop playing

• Sep 2, 2018 - 20:02

See attached score.

For music I'm trying to write, I would love to have trills (as well as have them in the playback), but the trill doesn't stop playing after it should have finished. In the score attached, the trill stops at the end of measure 2, but the playback keeps playing a note until the end of measure 3. Any way to fix this?

Thanks ~

You have made a rookie error and found a bug in the process. The trill line is only attached to the 1/2 note. You double clicked (or pressed ctrl+e) to put the trill line into edit mode and moved the trill line end with either the mouse or ctrl + right arrow.

To apply the trill correctly and get proper playback, either select both notes (using shift + click for the second one) and double click the trill line in the palette, or use shift + arrow when you edit it to extend the trill to the end of the second note. You can tell the difference because the red dotted line shows where the end of the trill is anchored.

Ctrl + arrows and dragging an end point only make lines look different, while shift + arrows change the anchor points. ctrl+arrow and dragging should only be used for fine tuning the appearance of any line in the lines palette.
