3.0 - unable to search all special characters in master palette

In version 2, when you opened the master palette you could select Symbols and a search box would appear at the top of the window. In version 3, when you select Symbols you get a list of categories under it, but only get a search box when you select one of those categories. The search box only allows you to search the selected category, not all symbols. This is a pretty useless function since you can see all of the items in most categories. Please make it like it was in version 2.x.
