Question about page margins

• Oct 9, 2018 - 21:44

What have you guys had the best luck with in regards to page margins?

We have a guy who's eyes aren't in the best of shape and so I try to make the words as big as I can and have the margins be as narrow as I can so that we can fit everything on a whole paper with minimal white space to allow for bigger text.

You guys are a great help!

If you are printing a score on paper, margins are related to printer hardware and paper size.
For example, my Lexmark X73 printer manual reads:
"Like other printers, the printer cannot print in the extreme left, right, top or bottom edges of a
page. Use these minimum settings:
• Left and right margins:
– 6.35 mm (0.25 in.) each for all paper sizes except A4
– 3.37 mm (0.133 in.) each for A4 size paper
• Top margin:
– 1.7 mm (0.067 in.)
• Bottom margin:
• 16.51 mm (0.65 in.)"

(Other printers may vary.)

If you are viewing on a screen, margins are not necessary. Neither are standard paper sizes.
That means, e.g. for a rectangular monitor, you can use portrait or landscape (depending on monitor orientation) and make a page size to max out the monitor's display area.
