Files not saving, lost on next startup (possible new information)

Hello,

After a quick google I have seen other posts with the same issue but I have new information that may help in replication of the issue (possibly?)

Windows 10 64-bit

My exact process was this:
1. Open Musescore to start working on a new score
2. After working for a bit, hit save as, set the directory to the desktop, and confirm, but DID NOT close the program
3. There is now a .mscz file in the directory I specified (the desktop) with the name I saved it as.
4. Continue working, hitting the save icon in the top bar regularly.
5. After finishing the file, once again I hit save as and overwrote the file for good measure. (I am paranoid, and it seems rightfully so though it did not save me this time)

This was about a week ago and I had not opened the file since. I have now come back and the file had reverted to a very early state, I suspect what my first "save-as" file was. An auto-save was present in User/Appdata/Local/Musescore/Musescore2, but it was the same file as what was now on the desktop.

In a panic, I checked my Google Drive account which syncs my desktop. There was a file there called ".filename.mscz,". Removing the period at the beginning and the comma at the end, there was my file intact.

I've seen other posts about the same issue (no mention of Google Drive though). This may be some sort of issue with the way the files are written where Google Drive does a backup and then tries to "sync" them back, as if Musescore is not able to write to the file once it has been "officially" created.

What leads me to believe that this could be an issue with Google Drive is that I have had exactly the same issue with a game I play, Torchlight II. I created a character (the game created a save file) and played it for a few hours, saved and quit, and returned later to a blank character (file had not been changed since creation).

This seems very similar. The only way I (and other people) could resolve that issue with the game was by exempting the game's save directory from Google Drive Sync.

Does anyone have any input or suggestions for this issue? It would be ideal if I could have my .mscz files automatically synced, but I am not entirely sure if that is even the issue.
