Multiple bars of rest
Hi
I'm transcribing a choral score without the accompaniment. I cannot find how to indicate 9 bars rest for the voices. Have tried edit/tools/fill with slashes which didn't work and doesn't feel quite what I want which is probably a slash with number.

Does “complete the score before enabling multimeasure rests” mean leaving empty bars as you go along to reduce afterwards?

Yes, right click on a measure if you want to break the Multimeasure rest or add a Rehearsal mark.

Thank you, that worked perfectly for me. New thread here really. Can I remove empty bars in part of score rather than the whole score? This would be the same score as before with full accompaniment where the piano has a long "solo" sections.

You can hide empty staves so long piano solos only show the piano part.

But how?
I have been able to hide all empty staves and they disappear in relation to the score but highlighting and trying to remove a section, I couldn't find how. Do I have to make a page break or similar?

After you have entered all of the notes in all of the instruments, make sure you have visible still checked in the instruments. You can then open Style->General... (Format->Style in version 3) and check Hide empty staves. This will show entire staves when there is as few as one note on it in that system.
The invisible staves, no matter how they're made invisible are still there. If you make a selection that affects empty staves they will be affected, this includes copy and paste operations.
If this doesn't answer your question, please clarify it. Your question doesn't make total sense to me. You can attach your score (the .mscz file) and explain what you are trying to do.

I'm trying to shorten the score by removing the empty choral staves above the accompanying piano solos, but not other empty staves e.g. when the tenor lines are empty above the bass. if this can't be done i can live with it!

I think I'm involved beyond my capability now! Yes, You have done what I asked but displayed in Musescore 3 it looks dreadful. I think I'll keep it as it was in 2.2. I'm an amateur, transcribing handwritten (i.e. almost illegible) arrangements for 2 amateur choirs.
I've downloaded Musescore 3 but will have to work on it to get comfortable with it before handing over any scores. All the scores I have already done will have to be altered/adjusted and there are quite a few of them.

In version 3 you can set the Hide: dropdown to Hide: Always or never by staff rather than using the Hide empty staves in staves in the Styles settings.

FYI, if you decide to start the transition to version 3, you can have both on your computer at the same time and they use different folders for data and saving scores. I wouldn't get too concerned about transferring V2 scores to V3, but you might play around with version 3 and see some of the improvements. You can tell it to put all dynamics above the staff for your choral works.

Thank you again. I had stopped panicking and just about worked that out for myself when I read your comment above. I have started to transpose a piece in version 3 and wanted to say that I like it, think it's a great improvement and love the teaching bits that save time looking in the Handbook.
