I don't know how to use playback in the new musescore 3

So I saw today that I could get the musescore 3, and I did. It looks all prettier and all that but for some reason, the playback button is faded out indicating that I can't click it. Spacebar doesn't work and even the play panel will not show up. Is there something I'm missing?
