Rare behaviour with "Timbres of Heaven" soundfont file.

• Jan 25, 2019 - 04:35

Hi, Gang!!!

I use MuseScore 3.0.1 portable version into UbuntuStudio 18.04.1 LTS (64 bit Linux).

I downloaded the last version of "Timbres of Heaven" soundfont file from:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2NEzl-56UFHd054VnJETzJOZjg/view.

Even the fact that this soundfont file has a very lot of awesome realistic sounds, there are some "things" with it.

One of those "things" is about how many notes we can play at the same time in the internal MuseScore Synthesizer.

If you test it with the attached file, you will hear how some instruments stop to sound before their real stopping point.

This is not the expected and/or desirable behaviour.

If you use another soundfont files, this issue doesn't happen.

This rare behaviour is the same with MuseScore 2.3.2 version.

So...

Is it a MuseScore bug???

Is it that soundfont file bug???

Is there some fix???

Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!

JUAN

I've noticed this too. Even with newer versions of the soundfont then what is on the midkar webpage. Could very well be a soundfont bug, but I wouldn't at all be surprised to find it's just the way the soundfont has issues with fluidsynth. It was designed for BassMidi and Don told me once fluidsynth tends to handle his soundfont rather oddly. Now that development of fluidsynth has picked up, maybe it will get better.
