Multiple Musescore 3 bugs

• Jan 26, 2019 - 20:23

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this. I'm having a lot of trouble with Musescore 3 right now. I don't know if these bugs have already been reported or not, but they're very common and rather debilitating so they should be fixed ASAP.

  1. Sometimes when playing through a score, the player will skip ahead dozens of bars, play one note, and then stop. Sometimes it will skip to the beginning of the score, play the first note, then stop.

  2. Sometimes when playing from somewhere within the score (not from the beginning), it will play one note and stop.

  3. Sometimes get odd situation where the time signature or key signature appears twice on a barline like in this image: e2c01efdc4b4e2cfd14f64cc2f3bf49f.png

  4. Incredibly slow UI in (comparatively) big files. I'm currently working on a file that is 40KB in size and it is a pain to use the arrow keys to move notes around, or just to even drag the screen around. I understand this is probably an issue with file size as it is not as apparent in smaller files, but I did not have this problem in Musescore 2. The difference was noticeable and immediate.
Also surely 40KB is not too big for the program to handle. Should I be manually allocating more RAM to the program? It doesn't strike me as a particularly memory intensive process.

I hope these issues can be fixed. I'm surprised they were included in the official release of Musescore 3 to be honest. I would like to go back to Musescore 2 until they're fixed but, as expected, it doesn't know how to read the files anymore.

Looking forward to any form of a response,
Jamie

Everything you mentioned are known bugs that should be being worked on. I'm not MuseScore employee or programmer so I can't make any promises.

As far as using version 2, you can use the File->Export command and choose musicxml as the format for the file, save it, then open and edit it in version 2. Unless you purposely deleted version 2 it's still on your computer.
