Time signature

Hi

I am writing a piece, where the time signature changes. At some point, there is a bar with 5/8.
As it's not in the palette standard, I created it. But something went wrong. Although I got a time signature
5/8, it was not registered as true value - only as appearing in the text. As I used 5/4 to change it from, now
the program insists that it's a 5/4 bar. Therefore the phrase, I write, doesn't fit with the bar timewise.
I have tried to create another 5/8 correctly, true value and replaced it with the old one, but it doesn't help.
The program now gives me my phrase in a 5/8 bar, and then adds an empty 2/4 bar.
Now if I could just delete that extra bar, the problem would be solved, but I can't find a way to do that.
I would be happy if anyone could tell me how to do it.
