Mixer soundfont issue with cellos and contrabass

• Feb 10, 2019 - 00:29

I'm working on a transcription of Wrath of the Reset Bomb from Kid Icarus (W.I.P on my profile), and in a certain measure near the end it calls for a gong. I went searching and downloaded the Gong soundfont to use for the mixer because musescore doesn't have an acceptable gong sound, and so I installed it, not knowing that it would change every instrument voice to the gong sound. I managed to get most of the sounds back to their correct instruments, except the cellos and contrabasses; I can't find their correct sounds. I know I can assign it to Cello and Contrabass but when I do it doesn't sound as full as it did before I installed the gong soundfont, as right now it sounds dry. I'm also just discovering that when I make a new score, every voice for the orchestra instruments are set to gong automatically. In short:
1) what is the original sound of the cellos and contrabasses in the mixer by default so I can reset it,
2) how can I fix the mixer issue so that when I start a new score it doesn't set every voice to gong?

Sorry for a long read but I'd appreciate the help.

Move the gong soundfont to the bottom of the list in the synthesizer. Everything but the gong will be they way they were originally defined, you will then need to assign the gong sound in the mixer.
