help in deleting underscore

I'm new to MuseScore 2. I no longer desire the underscore that I put after a word to be held into the next note. How do I delete an underscore or a dash? I've tried many ways.

Select the lyric. Double click it and move the cursor to the end of the word and press space and any line will be overwritten.
