Help compiling MuseScore on debian 9

• Feb 12, 2019 - 17:14

hi, i am currently having some issues with the appimage so i tried to compile the code from github. I followed the steps on the developers handbook, and found almost all needed dependencies except the QT ones. I found the installer on the official qt site but i dont like getting outside of the debian stable repos because they might mess up my system updates(and debian10 is about to become stable). I tried installing some dependencies named qt-5 basic, or something similar from the repos but they didnt work, but thats no surprise because i have no idea what i am doing or even what QT is!!
To get to the point, is there any way to compile from source in debian using only the dependencies in the stable repos? I have no technical background at all (i mean software development in general) so i can only follow instructions without knowing exactly what i am doing.

EDIT: i just got an answer from a debian support forum, they told me the qt version required to compile musescore 3 is not available on the stable repos so i will have to install it from the qt website. I should probably delete this post but it seems i cant.
