MacOS Saved score does not appear in Finder

• Mar 11, 2019 - 22:23

Background:
MacOS 10.14.3
I am an experienced Mac user, marginal Linux/Terminal, new to Musescore.
Problem: Saved scores do not show up on Finder.
I have changed the default directory to a Dropbox subdirectory.

Scores saved in Musescore are:
> Found by Musescore with no problem, and it shows them properly in the file structure
> Found by Mac's "search" function. "Show in Finder" then displays the file properly within the file structure, as well as another file I have saved from Musescore
> Visible via Terminal "find / -name..." and they appear properly in the file structure
> But then a new Finder window for that subdirectory is again blank

So somehow, Musescore's saving results in files sometimes invisible to Finder although the saved file seems to exist where it's supposed to be.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff

I have the exact same issue, and it seems to be a particular problem when it's a MuseScore file that's saved in Google Drive.

Anyway, I have no idea why it's happening, but a fairly simple workaround is to go to the folder that the file should be appearing in and type Command + Shift + . (period). This command shows files that are invisible for some reason, and in this case, it results in showing the disappeared MuseScore file. (Now, why the file is grayed out, I again have no idea. But I've never had any issue opening it or making changes to it once it's open.)

Has anybody else found this to be a problem?

To be clear: MuseScore has no special magic when it comes to files. Files are files. If MuseScore creates the file and can open it later, then obviously the file exists. If Finder is having trouble finding a file that clearly exists, then it's something to ask Apple or their support community about. But again, files are files, MuseScore's files are absolutely no different in any way whatsoever from any other files.
