(Guitar) Melody & Accompaniment on one stave
I am trying to write a score for guitar that has the melody playing as one note held for the duration of two beats and the accompaniment (a chord form) played on the second beat. For example, the first beat is a C note held for two beats, and the second beat is G-C-E. I might have two such structures in one 4/4 measure (e.g. note-chord, note-chord).
How can I notate this? A 4/4 measure won't let me combine two half-notes and two quarter notes. I think I've seen this as a half-note with a quarter rest over it, followed by the quarter-note chord. I wish I could diagram this here, but if I could, I wouldn't be asking. :)
