plus sign (extra beats) on top of a measure after importing pdf
Below is a screenshot of what got imported from a pdf file.
It's supposed to be 4/4. I've read in some threads that this may happen when copying and pasting partial measures. I also understand that it can be a result of a bug in the conversion algorithm. What I want to know is how do I delete the extra beats? I've been copying the contents, deleting the measure, inserting a new measure and pasting the original contents. However, there are a lot of these mistaken conversions so I was hoping there was an easier way to delete just the extra beats.
Thanks.

I also found that I can edit the Actual Measure Direction by doing the following:
1. Right-click
2. Measure properties...
Is it possible to set a keyboard shortcut for this?

There is no keyboard shortcut to set measure properties per se, but it is possible to change the measure duration with the keyboard.
If you select a note or rest and press ctrl+delete, that entire beat will be deleted in every instrument. This may mean that you will delete a note in another voice for the same instrument or on a different instrument. You will then need to fix that measure. It does have the advantage that you can pick which beat to get rid of rather than letting MuseScore decide it will be the last beat(s) which is what it will do.
You can also add beats to the measure by selecting a duration then pressing ctrl+shift+ a note name (a-g) If you want a rest rather than a note there, then select the note you added and press delete (without ctrl pressed) and the note will turn into a rest.

Thanks for the tip! I gave it a try and ctrl+delete works like a charm!!
So far I have no use case for adding extra beats but I'll be sure to use that keyboard shortcut when I do!
Thanks again!
