opening pdf
The very first time I'm using this program, it won't open a PDF of a Euphonium
part I'd like to transpose. Got any ideas?

It won't open a PDF. You need to either
use File->import PDF (This is experimental and may not work well and will likely need some work to make correct).
Use a PDF reader (like acrobat) so you can see it and enter it into MuseScore.
