Can MuseScore playback produce steel drum roll sound

• Apr 9, 2019 - 21:35

The steel drum roll is the technique used to sustain note or chord by repeatedly striking the note or chord to keep it sounding to the desired note value. For example, to play a whole note, the musician keeps repeatedly (rapidly) striking the note to the extent of time of the whole note. The steel drum roll is quite distinct from the synthesized tremolo sound. Is this sound supported in MuseScore playback?

If the answer is "yes", then I would like someone who knows to tell me how to include it in my steel drum compositions using MuseScore 3.0.

I don't use steel drums, but I like to use marimbas. What I do with those is put a pedal under the roll and make it invisible. This smooths out the sound of the tremolo. One sometimes bad side effect is that you will get a crescendo if the roll is too long.
