Unresponsive looping

So there I was, in choir practice trying to convince the guys that Musescore would provide a better way to practice. I looped a part of the song for repeated practice of a small section and it wouldn't quit looping. I right-clicket, left-clicked flags and brackets, muted voices and every thing I could think of, and still the 5-measures kept looping; soon the whole Barbershop group was laughing, and those who were against using MuseScore were having a fit. I turned off the program, packed up my computer, and finally it quit.

Is there something I could have done to stop the repeating?

I'm in Windows 10 on an ASUS using Musescore 2.2 [because I don't like the way later versions handle choosing instrument sounds].
