Adding an ANACRUSIS in a score
The piece of music I am writing has a 5 bar entry and then the 5th bar is an anacrusis. The tempo is split common. The version 3 manual on this point is almost a foreign language. I am reading the "how to" in "Measure Operations... all 4 pages. Adding a bar is simple as is deleting a bar. To date I have spent several hours and got nowhere. I can add the anacrusis at the beginning of a score but even that goes wrong occasionally... What have I got to do in simple terms to add an anacrusis to a score?

Right click the measure, measure properties, change the actual duration.

Note. For MU4, 'Bar properties', as accessed by CTL-click on the bar, is more detailed than what is provided in the Properties panel.

For the record, that's exactly what the linked article is about. I think you might simply be confused about the US/UK difference in terminology: "measure" in US is "bar" in UK. But definitely, everyone is talking about the same dialog. The Properties panel in the left sidebar is not relevant here, only the separate measure/bar properties dialog.

That did it for me, thank you
