Decrescendo on a single clef?

I'm editing a piano score, and I want only the left hand to have a decrescendo. But when it plays back, the right hand gets quieter as well. I made the decrescendo by selecting the notes in the left hand and adding the hairpin from the lines menu, and then added dynamics on the first and last note (again only on the left hand). Is this possible to fix?

Not a bug, a feature.

Select the decrescendo and look in the inspector for Dynamic range and change it from Part (which means all staves on the instrument) to staff.
