Error: cannot read file

• Jun 17, 2019 - 22:20

So I was working on a couple of pieces and Musescore did something (don't remember what). I saved them all then decided to close out. When I did Musescore froze. I decided to wait for it to load again, but it didn't. For hours I was waiting until I decided to restart my computer. When I did it bluescreened. When it restarted I copied the 'Scores' file into a flash drive (in case my PC goes through a 'Restart my PC/Bluescreen loop'). After which I opened a file I was working on last session but came to see a message saying 'cannot read file' or something like that. I opened some other files in the 'Scores' folder in the 'Documents' folder of my PC and after opening almost all the files, I came to realize whatever happened only affected the scores that were open during the last session. So what I wanna know is what the HELL happened and how can I restore these files?

(I posted one the files in advance)

The score is toast and can't be repaired. No guarantees, but that's probably true of the other scores also. You can probably find a backup by following the instructions in https://musescore.org/en/node/52116.

What happened? Only you could possibly tell us. We don't know what you were doing when the crash occurred and blue screen crashes are extremely rare. The fact that you were concerned about the blue screen leads me to believe you have something bigger wrong with your computer than a single program crashing.

My sister's laptop faced an issue where it would blue screen and it would offer to restart, but when it did it would blue screen again throwing her pc into an endless loop. This was a year ago and I got worried thinking it could happen to me as well should my computer blue screen but it probably happened because of something she downloaded. As for when the crash happened beforehand I saved all my files before clicking out but when I did Musescore froze. I shrugged it off and decided to wait for it. Hours passed and I decided to restart my computer. When I did it blue screened.
