need help installing musescore on chromebook through linux

• Jun 26, 2019 - 17:30

So, I've been trying to get MuseScore on my chromebook but I keep running into complications.
I tried using AppImage but I don't know how to give permission to execute AppImage. The AppImage file is in my downloads but whenever I use cd ~/Downloads it says there is no such file or directory. I played around with it but I couldn't figure it out.

So, since I couldn't figure out AppImage I tried Flatpak. I followed all of the direction for the setup but then when I get to "flatpak install flathub org.musescore.MuseScore" and say yes it gives me the error "Flatpak system operation Deploy not allowed for user"

If anyone knows how to fix any of these on chromebook and is willing to help me I'd be very grateful.

I'm all good until 1:40 On my chromebook, there is no properties option. There's Cut, Copy, Get Info, Rename, Delete, Zip Selection, and New Folder. And Get Info only tells me the size and the time I downloaded the file. So then I tried to do it via commands and the cd ~/Downloads tells me there is no such file or directory even though the AppImage file is in my downloads folder. So, I don't know what to do from here

Hello!

I was having the same exact problem. Solve it doing 2 things, but I am not so sure yet the first step #1 is really needed (maybe I will try again later and confirm, but I didn't have the time to do it today).

1) I've changed the chromebook to the dev channel. (remember: I am not sure if this is needed, you can try without it and see if it works or not)
2) with flatpak already installed, just before the step of entering "flatpak install flathub org.musescore.MuseScore" I've entered the root user. Just type "sudo -s" and press enter. The root user will appear. No password was needed in my chromebook, don't know if this will apply to all of the others.
3) Using the root user, I typed "flatpak install flathub org.musescore.MuseScore" and the installation was successful.

If you don't like the dev channel, you can go back to the stable channel afterwards, the software will still work.
I did not test for full functionality, but as for now everything seems to be working fine.

Cheers (sorry for my poor english).
