Linux Playback Issue

I've been trying to play my score on a Linux laptop and a raspberry pi. When I click on the play button, nothing happens. It is clearly selected but there is no indication that the score is being played in MuseScore nor is there any sound coming out of my speakers. The laptop seems to work once if I restart the entire laptop, but I'd rather not have to do that every time I have to run a score.
