How to know which octave to use for a guitar tuning

I'm very new to guitar and song writing so please forgive me if this is a dumb question. I want to tune Musescore's guitar to B standard tuning, but I can't find the scientific notation with octaves for that anywhere, and you need to select the octave when you edit a string. Is there a way to tell from the standard notation of guitar tunings (in this case: B-E-A-D-F♯-B) what the octave for each note should be? I.E, how do I know whether the 2nd string would be E2, E3, E4, etc, and how can I make sure it's the right octave when tuning my actual guitar? Any help is appreciated
