Changing the number of voices in mid-piece

Is there a way to show one line of music (like a Solo Voice line) by itself for 5-6 measures, and then on the next line show the continuation of the Soloist line with the other 4 voices (SATB) joining in? I would like to avoid showing the Soloist with nothing but rests under it for the SATB while the entire accompaniment is silent for an entire page.
