All options to play sound in musescore disabled

For the past few days, whenever I open up musescore, the program will open and I can edit my scores just fine, but all the possible options for playback will be disabled (play buttons, playback panel, synthesizer.) There's also no sound when I add notes to the score or click a note. Solutions I've tried so far: resetting preferences to default, downloading Beta 3.3, uninstalling Jack Audio & Jadeo, repairing the files through the control panel, and uninstalling and reinstalling the program. Any idea how I can fix the problem?
