Bug using Volta (Inspector Text Box)??

• Oct 1, 2019 - 02:10

The Text Box for any Voltas do NOT allow "<" or "&" characters. They do NOT show in the visible Volta string. All character appear in the Text Box but not in the Volta page view. Worse than that ANYTHING typed after those "trigger" characters also never shows in the Volta on page.

As far as I can tell (using a standard U.S keyboard) all other special character show up OK on the page.
">", "+","#", and "?" all work along with all other shifted or unshifted special character.

From the MuseScore "Compose Tips" page, they show & for & and also < for <. They work that way. The "tips" page shows other sequences for > and ", but those seem to work by just typing it directly.

It would be good to put that in the handbook if it is not a bug. The Volta Text Box should just be a string like Staff Text (which does NOT have this same problem)!! Sounds to me like the Text Box string is just not handled properly, at least it is not handled the same ways as Staff Text strings.

Any other known places this problem shows up?

I'd call it a bug. There have been a number of other bugs involving these characters, but usually much worse - like, if you try putting a "&" in a text, it appears to work, but after you save the file, it can't be opened again. I don't know if the current behavior here was the result of fixing such a bug and deciding to live with this or if it was an oversight or what.
